This month we’re offering not just a single course for download, but an entire chapter! (Of course, there’s only one active course on the island. Doh!) Molokai isn’t exactly a golfing wonderland, especially since the only resort course on the island (Kaluakoi Golf Club) closed right before our book went to print. However, the local’s 9-holer, Ironwood Hills, is absolutely worth playing if you’re in the neighborhood. Check it out.
The lightly populated “Friendly Isle” has a different pulse rate than the
other islands in the chain. Molokai remains proudly local, and possesses
few of the tourist offerings of the other islands. What it lacks in modern
day conveniences, however, it makes up for in beauty, solitude, and the
sociability of its people. The two courses on Molokai represent two divergent
worlds: the resort-style Kaluakoi Golf Club (which has recently closed
indefinitely), with its oceanside links, and the fun and quirky nine-holer at
Ironwood Hills. Molokai is a special place, retaining the slower pace of “Old
Hawaii”—signs at the airport urge you “Slow Down, this is Molokai.” Read more
